SproutZen (“SproutZen”, “the App”, Chinese name: 花小绿) is a garden journal and care-reminder app with optional AI features. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the App and how we handle it.

1. Summary
- Most of your data (plants, care logs, reminders, settings) stays on your device.
- We do not require an account and do not sell your personal information.
- AI features send photos and related context to third-party AI services through secure proxies to generate results.
- Subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store via RevenueCat; we do not receive your payment card details.
2. Information stored on your device
The App uses local storage (SQLite) on your phone or tablet for:
- Plants in your garden, nicknames, photos you add, and care history
- Care schedules, reminder settings, and notification preferences
- AI usage credits / subscription state cached locally for offline display
- Language preference and optional home-screen plant image
- Consent choices (e.g. location for AI diagnosis, saving images to the gallery)
This data is not automatically uploaded to servers operated by us.
3. Permissions and how we use them
Camera & photo library
Used when you choose to take or select photos for:
- AI plant identification
- AI health diagnosis
- AI Studio (stylized plant artwork)
- Plant gallery and home-screen display images
- Saving or sharing generated images
Location (when in use)
Requested only for AI health diagnosis if you agree. The App uses approximate location to infer city/region, climate zone, and recent weather (via a public weather API) so care advice can reflect local conditions. You can decline; diagnosis still works without climate context.
Notifications
Used for local care reminders (watering, fertilizing, etc.) and optional notifications when AI Studio artwork finishes generating. Reminder content is scheduled on your device; we do not operate a push-notification server for care data.
4. Information sent over the network
AI features
When you use AI identification, diagnosis, or Studio artwork, the App may send:
- Photos you selected (typically as compressed JPEG)
- Short text context (plant name, care schedule summary, climate summary, locale)
- A short-lived authentication token (JWT) to our Cloudflare Worker proxies
Our proxies forward requests to AI model providers such as Alibaba Cloud DashScope (Qwen) and/or Cloudflare Workers AI, depending on server configuration. Those providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not use your photos to train our own models.
Weather data
For climate context, the App may call Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to obtain recent local weather summaries. No account is required.
5. Purchases and subscriptions
Optional in-app purchases (subscriptions and AI credit packs) are handled by Apple through RevenueCat. We receive subscription status and product identifiers to unlock features; we do not receive your full payment card number. See Apple’s privacy policy for payment processing.
6. What we do not collect
- No mandatory user account or email registration in the App
- No advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking for ads
- No sale of personal information
7. Children
The App is a general plant-care tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Data retention and deletion
- On device: Delete plants in the App or uninstall the App to remove local data.
- AI providers: Retention is governed by the relevant AI service provider.
- Purchases: Transaction records are retained by Apple as required by its policies.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, in the App.
